For Xmas I got Tomb Raider Underworld: The Complete Official Guide (the walkthroughs are no use to me 'cause I have the Wii version). Other than walkthroughs and concepts, it shows you a cut-out from the final version of Underworld.

In Legend, Lara says something about Peter Eddington, her father's old friend. Instead of being as old as Lara's father, he's in his mid thirties and has a niece named Jessica. The first idea was that Lara was lead to the Arctic because there was another artifact, The Eye Of Odin*, that was possessing Jessica and had trapped her in the Arctic. Lara went there to save Jessica, succeeds, and she runs into Natla and Helheim whilst trying to escape. (Of course, Jessica wasn't with her, and escapes while Lara fights Natla and so on.) They cut it out because: 1)To big and complicated. 2)Off topic. [and] 3)A little girl character would be to weird.

Cool, huh? wink.gif

*The Eye of Odin is an artifact that resembles a snake and wraps around the waist, neck, and head. It has cuts similar to excaliber and Mjolnir and glows blue in some places.

Very! The Eye sounds like a prototype for the gloves and belt, and the whole plot was obviously seriously considered as it chimes with a lot of the early reports of the game development. It doesn't sound too off topic really unsure.gif

Very interesting, it's strange how Underworld doesn't really follow Legends final cutscene.

I mean:

It doesn't mention this research on Excalibur and Avalon that they supposedly did after she defeated Amanda and Rutland and you don't see Excalibur until right at the end of the game..

I saw this in the guide book too. Haven't even played the game yet, but you just have to look at the cut outs of the final game wink.gif

Yeah, I actually thought having a little girl character wouldn't be so annoying. As they said on that article, it depends on the voice actress.
I think the artifact is really cool. It's a shame they cut it out, but I think it would make the game a bit to complicated as well, because what does it have to do with Avalon and finding Lara's mother? And what has it got to do with Thor's hammer and Gauntlet ect.

It would have been a very good idea - 9 year old Lara worked in TRL!

Maybe that'll be the main problem in the next game? CRYSTAL DYNAMICS, IF YOU'RE OUT THERE, READ THIS!!!!!!!

I have another reason why they cut it out.

You know after AOD all that commotion about Lara and Kurtis? I doubt anyone wants a repeat of that.
I have it, too. It also said "This also saved us the trouble of steering away from any misconceptions that Lara and Peter had a relationship..."
