I'm sure you've all read this by now, but just in case you haven't:
"Data was collected via the EIDOS Metrics Suite (a game metrics logging system utilized by EIDOS). The data collection process is completely unobtrusive since data was gathered directly from the game engines of subjects playing TRU in their natural habitat (via the Xbox Live! web service) rather than in a laboratory [setting]."
Results are available to view here: http://www.itu.dk/~yannakakis/CIG09_IOI.pdf
I've been discussing it with other fans on the official Eidos forums but wanted to chat about it here as well. What do you guys think?
I think it's fine - research is done on all of us all the time without you knowing. If you were placed in a room and told to play you'd probably play differently, so by doing it this way they're collecting real data - and none of it is your personal information so I say it's fine.

Strange, but interesting! There's nothing personal about it so I'm happy for them to research my playing time to improve future games.

Of course this is all dependent on how they read the results. Why are people falling so much? If they misinterpret the information it will be of no use for them

I hope they take into account the people who just like to dive her off a cliff just to watch her splat.

and i hope they notice ps2/wii players being totaly confued and deing a lot because of the bad level design and horrid controls
that would be just about everyone playing the ps2 version, being terribly desperate for entertainment

it sucked in comparision to any game, i seriously think it's the worst game ever created, and it's unquestionably the worst tomb raider game, it basically just took every thing wrong with previous games, bad controls, confusing level design, shortness and put them all in a game that's all ready ridiculously boring. it's so bad, it came out in feburary and i'm still ranting about it's suckage
