So Keir has been posting on the Eidos boards saying this isn't a Tomb Raider game. Here's where I'm confused...

  • If you have Lara Croft in a sentence, Tomb Raider is there somewhere
  • Is this like a second Lara?
  • Are they simply using her name and nothing else?
  • How can you have Lara without Tomb Raider and vice versa

If it's not a Tomb Raider game, I shouldn't be featuring it on my site under the list, right? Have you noticed they don't even have this game listed on the Eidos boards under the TR games? It's in its own forum.

Maybe now they wanna call her just a grave robber, or a bounty hunter, a treasure sekeer, a relic hunter, a rebel archaeologist or even a despoiler of graves...? He he he

Jokes aside, I think Keir just must be referring to this particular game not being part of the main series, just like Prophecy or Lara Croft's Poker Party, and because of its great departure from a "true" Tomb Raider gameplay it intends to have a paralell development and stand on its own, so it does not get bashed that much for lacking the inherent characteristics of the franchise and hence the title change...

Plus, finally something to stop people from calling her LaUra, it is really annoying! wallbash.gif

it just seems like a spinoff to the franchise, just a way for Square to make easy money off of Lara's name

Is that an ancient tibetan ritual dagger in your pocket?.. Maybe I'm just pleased to see you...

I agree it does look like a spinoff. It is a strange they have not cashed in and done more spinoffs over the years. Like "Lara Croft's Ducati Racing" or something.

I think maybe because in the games by Crystal, they've started to go off tomb raiding. And now she hardly ever goes in tombs. But I'm definately not sayin I agree though....... NEVER! yucky.gif

I had this discussion with my dad, and he said that " the game has gotten the best tomb raider results out of all of the other games" but of course you cant say that if it isnt a tomb raider game...am I right? :P

I used to call her Laricoft when I was little.....yes I've known about her since I was little.....

Anyway I havnt played it yet but it looks TombRaider-y enough for me.

Look its not a tomb raider game. Square have said they are treating it as a different franchise. Just accept it.

Well, in certain ways it isn't Tomb Raider, but in some other ways it is.
For example, "Tomb Raider" isn't in the title of the game, but the main charachter is Lara Croft, so just for that it's something like Tomb Raider. I finished the game and I'm not so excited, it isn't what I except, I don't like the games of that tipe. The best levels for me were outside levels when you had map and you could explore the areas, other isn't so good for me. The other thing I liked were the relics and all of that stuff, it's so cool. :)
But, I'll mark this game with one 3-

I didnt like the look of the game at first I thought that insted of makeing a game that wasnt even related to the tomb raider seris was a waist of time and money that they could use on the next " tomb raider " game <_< but after my dad forced me to play co-op with him Its acturly a realy good game, although it does have its down sides I do enjoy playing it....

I wouldn't say it's a Tomb Raider game, but it has just as much right to that title as any of the CD games. (They also don't play/feel like a Tomb Raider but feature 'Lara Croft' - or what's left of her) =P Haha.

I bought it recently, somehow I missed this when it was released... It's not a bad game by any means, but it's not great.
