Hey guys,

Don't want to alarm you but I have been playing with the idea of closing the forums. I know we're all members on either the Eidos boards or at tombraiderforums.com so I was wondering if it would be best to close these down. Things have been a little slow for awhile.

What do you think? Please let me know - not making any rushed decisions at the moment but I wanted to run it all by you first! :)

Hey Katie,
I think that you should wait for the release of LCGoL and see if the forums are still quite then. It seems when a new TR game is released people tend to come online a bit more often. It's up to you when you think the time is right though. I do agree with you that the forums are continuously quite. Ad I said, it's up to you when the time is right  Whatever's best for you dosen't bother me at all

Personally I prefer having this smaller community, thats why I don't like the bigger sites like Tomb raider forum. But at the end of the day katie, its totally up to you!

It is sad when a forum closes because it's more than just a website that goes - it's a whole community. I joined this one because it is a small friendly community with a good feel.

But I can understand that it is a lot of work and commitment to keep something like this going.

Something I have been meaning to ask you Katie: How have you managed to keep all of this going for so long?

It's a long time since the original TR games came out. You're now a bit older than when you started your original fan site (we all are!). Do you still have the same level of interest in Tomb Raider and Lara that you did when you started? Are you as passionate about it as ever? Has interest waned over time or as the games have become less popular? New games in the series seem to get further and further apart. Or have other interests taken over your life?

I started playing these games as a kid. I went away from games for a long time and am only just getting back to them now. TR seems to be a favourite as it really had a profound effect on me back then.

With a quick browse I just noticed that a lot of older sites are now closed/closing. A recent casualty seems to be Planet Lara.

I wonder why this is? Do websites have a "lifetime" after which the admin people have lost interest and moved on? Is it something to do with internet expanding and there being so many sites out there now? I remember years ago when the big TR sites were things like The Croft Times. Do old websites get archived somewhere or do they get lost for all time?

I've only just managed to get back into this forum. I hope it doesn't close, but with so many social networking sites around, forums and email seem to be taking a bashing.

Thank you all for your thoughts :) I want to make sure it's clear that a decision hasn't been made yet. I'm only entertaining the possibility of closing the forums (not my site) and wanted to get everyone's feedback.

The big "competition" for small forums like these are obviously Justin's and the official TR forums. I have enjoyed these forums as they're a smaller community and not as overloaded, however, some activity needs to be taking place to keep them open :)

As far as Planet Lara goes, it is a sure shame, but there are of course other reasons for its departure.

Let's keep them running for the meantime and hopefully we'll get some more posting happening now that GOL is out (and next month for the rest of us ;)) If you have any ideas/suggestions for the forums I'd love to hear them.

We also need to get a new banner up!

I agree, the forums have been quiet lately but i wouldnt want to see the forums go, This is the only forum i use & more people will start signing on once we get more TR news because news on tomb raider has been really slow too, but it's not my decision & like everyone else said, its not my decision and i do understand if you do close the forums.

NO WAY. I love this small forum, and, I don't want to be connected to all other things, it will too confusing. Also if people don't have twitter, the ideal way to keep up with you site :)

Don't close it some people don't have memberships on other TR forums and I like this one's smallness. Besides all the other ones have COPPA rules! Seriously, I can feel how crowded a site is. It's wierd. You should see me on YouTube.

PLEASE DON'T CLOSE THE FORUM KATIE!!!

I know there are bigger TR forums out there but this forum has something that not even TRF has! And what is it you ask? Here, EVERYONE is friends with each other and there's never any b*tching going on between members. This smallish community is great and I would be devastated if it got closed! Think again please? :)

NOOOO please don't do it.
Small communities are the best. This forum has some real nice people on it, it would be a shame to let it go.
It is also the only TR forum I use.
However, if you do make the decision to cut it down, I can only respect that.

Thank you all for posting your comments, much appreciated. As long as there's even one person still interested they will remain open. Thanks for being an awesome bunch :D
