The voice acting seemed way overdone to me. When your adrenaline is pumping and you're trying to get out of a situation typically you won't be having time to have a conversation with yourself and let out so many noises. IMO anyway. And yes, it sounded...odd...
Didn't like the quick-time events.
Seemed reminiscent of the controls and how Lara was handled in Legend/Underworld. Never liked the controls in Crystal's games so hopefully she doesn't handle how it looked in the demo.

I totally agree with you Katie about the voice acting. It was way overdone for me, but the rest of the gameplay was great. I love the new Survival Instinct action. Hopefully that is used a lot in the game. I just hope PC users get a better variety of controls. I have played Legend and AE on PC and the controls are terrible. Hopefully something gets done about that. I couldn't even finish both Legend and Anniversary on PC because of the controls, I just gave up.

Thanks for posting I missed this
Gameplay looks interesting but I hope the PC controls aren't awkward too. I also agree about the acting, I don't really want Lara to be talking to herself non stop all through the game; we had enough of that from Zip and Alister. When she says she thinks the baddies have heard her I couldn't help thinking: No kidding?

If they fix only one thing I hope it's the controls. Hard to tell if the auto grab is still there or not.
I think the survival instinct action is a cool idea, but I hope it's an option we can turn on or off. I personally would like a harder challenge and would have it turned off.
Seems like there's still lots of quick-time events...what do you guys think of the ones we've seen?

I've got major video-lag here so I didn't actually notice the quick-time events
Are these a replacement for the adrenaline dodge/headshot? And does the player have to initiate them like before or do they just happen at random points in the game? If it's a move that we have to perform then I'd rather it was optional, rather than like TRA where you had to use the headshot to beat some enemies in order to progress through the game.

Looks good so far. Although it is hard to tell how much the player is doing and how much is just quicktime.
The instinct thing looks a bit like the hint buttons that Legend, TRA and Underworld had, just with a different name.
Yeah, how she talks to herself is weird. I guess it helps to give the player hints on what they should be looking for or what they should be doing next. CD have been working towards this for a while. First, they had Zip and Alister for her to talk to. This helped give a bit of a narrative to the story and drop some hints to the player. Then in Underworld she had that video camera so she could record her own personal diary as she went along. Now they've dropped the plot devices altogether and gone to having her straight out talking to herself. Perhaps she hurt her head in the shipwreck? Yep, weird.

Whatever happened to exploring an area, finding the bits you can reach and the bits you can't? Whatever happened to shooting an enemy until it was dead or managing to escape from it if you wanted to do that?

Yep, those are the things that TR was really about. But developers and media just seem to get hung up on all the next gen features.

Really, it seems like the focus is just on graphics these days. Game play was better in the earlier days...
It's really hard to have a final verdict on the game at this point. We've seen such a small amount of game play that it's almost impossible to judge. Giving Crystal the benefit of the doubt for a moment, they did say the cave part of the game really should take 15 minutes so they had to condense it into 5 minutes. However, if they can condense it, can we?
Total playing time I think is around 8 hours...look at Dead Island that's coming out this year. They say 25-30 hours game play.
4 years in development for 8 hours? Hmm...
