Check out the article, Tomb Raider Hopes to Recreate a Gaming Icon, here.

In the article, Karl says:

"In the past Lara has never had a personal attachment to any character," Stewart said. "She's never had a relationship beyond telling someone what to do.

It's generally true, I suppose, but she was pretty upset when she thought Amanda drowned in Peru in Legend. She also wasn't too happy when Alister copped for it in Underworld. Otherwise, she does tend to view other people as either helping her (i.e. doing as they're told) or end up as bullet-riddled corpses. :)

Although classic Lara obviously never cared about all those enemies she blew away  I think she cared about Von Croy, particularly in AOD, perhaps more than she wanted to admit to herself. And I've always thought we were supposed to think that this is where Lara got her ruthless artifact collecting obsession from. It looks like this Roth character is going to be used in a similar way. Interesting

Yeah, but look at the bullets she fires at him when he has only a tray for protection. Plus all the times she locked him in the fridge!

Yeah, he must've been expecting it i.e. Lara doesn't give a damn about him, otherwise why the WW1 outfit on the shooting range? Safety first
